Call for Applications

The Institute of European Integration and Policy of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece) and the Europe Direct hosted at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) are pleased to announce the organization of the Athens Summer School 2019 to be held on 1-6 July 2019, in Athens.

The Athens Summer School is an intensive interdisciplinary 6-day course (28 teaching hours), that provides comprehensive knowledge on policy issues and key challenges that Europe faces in the post-crisis era.

The number of participants is limited to 50 advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students of various disciplines, from EU and non-EU countries, so as their active involvement and constructive discussion with the course tutor to be ensured.

The lectures will be delivered in English by distinguished academics and recognized researchers with a thorough academic background and political perception on EU politics and policies. This year will lecture, among others, Loukas Tsoukalis, George Pagoulatos, Susannah Verney, Andreas Papandreou, Emmanuella Doussis, Konstantinos Filis, Aristides Hatzis and Ruby Gropas.

The participants will receive the Athens Summer School Handbook, including courses’ syllabi and literature related to each thematic stream, information on life in Athens, and a certificate of attendance.

Additional information

Participation fee: 150 euros per person

The fee will cover the Summer School's lectures, as well as a dossier, including the student's Handbook. The programme does not offer scholarships or any other kind of concession.

Selection criteria: The participants will be selected taking into account their motivation to attend, their academic background and English proficiency. Successful applicants will be informed via e-mail by May 11th.

Travel and subsistence: Accommodation, travel and food expenses are to be covered by each participant. Participants are also responsible for arranging accommodation on their own.
