Athens Summer School 2017 “Moving the EU Forward”

Study on EU contemporary issues at the heart of European culture and civilization!


The Institute of European Integration and Policy of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece) is pleased to announce the organization of the Athens Summer School 2017 to be held on 3-9 July 2017 at the Department’s premises, located at 42-44, Aiolou str. (Monastiraki area) in the historical center of Athens. The Athens Summer School is one of the main activities of the Jean Monnet module “Moving the EU forward” co-funded by the ERASMUS+ programme.

The Athens Summer School is an intensive interdisciplinary 7-day course (36 teaching hours), that provides comprehensive knowledge on the different aspects of the economic crisis and the key challenges that Europe faces in the post-crisis era.

The number of participants is limited to 30 advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students from EU and non-EU countries, so as their active involvement and constructive discussion with the course tutor to be ensured.

The lectures are given by distinguished academics and recognized researchers with a thorough academic background and political perception on EU politics and policies. The Summer School lectures are held in English.

The participants receive the Athens Summer School handbook including courses’ syllabi and literature related to each thematic stream, information on life in Athens and certificate of attendance.

Additional information

Participation fee: 250 euros per person

The fee will cover Summer School's dossier, including student's handbook, Athens city map, coffee breaks and lunches at traditional Greek restaurants, Acropolis Museum Tour and open course at Ancient Agora of Athens.

Selection criteria:

The participants will be selected taking into account their motivation to attend, their academic background and English proficiency. Successful applicants will be informed via e-mail by mid-April.

Accommodation and travel expenses:

Students are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. More information on accommodation options will be announced soon. Travel expenses are also to be covered by each participant.
